Chelford butchers shop brought into the modern day (with a traditional twist).
19 Years ago Andrew Hurst designed and refitted A.J. Boon Butchers in Chelford. Whilst travelling through the area around a year ago Andy decided to pop in to see Tony Boon to have a chat and catch up. He was greeted by an exclamation of “Are you psychic??”- as fate would have it Tony had been considering updating his shop!
Tony wanted to bring his shop into the modern era whilst maintaining the traditional values and features of the shop to accommodate for both the increasing younger patron trade and also the loyal long-standing customers.
Andy redesigned the shop from floor to ceiling bringing it up to date with a contemporary style and bold rebranding whilst maintaining a traditional twist with oak feature beams and cornices.
The transformation of the shop included;
- Formation of an entrance ramp and introduction of automatic door to increase accessibility.
- Renovation of the shopfront including new windows, extended fascia design and new electric blinds.
- Complete replacement of the shop floor structurally including the installation of new stainless steel floor drains and finished in stylish porcelain wood-effect tiles to the customer area and slip resistant, jointless resin flooring to the servery.
- Alteration of the counter layout to create increased product retail capability with the inclusion of a hot section to display Tony’s mouth watering home-made pies and savouries.
- Altering the plan of the customer area to allow space for a retail multideck unit thus creating even further additional sales potential.
- Inclusion of feature refrigerated dry-aging meat display unit and stainless steel cupboards, work benches and cutting blocks to the fresh meat servery area.
- Incorporation of a built-in flat screen television for effective promotion and events display.
Now A.J. Boon’s Traditional Family Butchers stands prominent and proud in the heart of Chelford as a flagship independent high street store.
